It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas, oh Christmas. I'd love to be able to say our Christmas time is full of wood-burning fires, hot cocoa, relaxing family time, home cooked meals, and writing letters by candlelight. I'd also like to be arriving home by horse and sleigh wearing my full gathered skirt and petticoats. But we live in America....21st Century America. I will settle for my Avonlea Christmas movie (watched religiously every year). I swear I was born in the wrong century..sigh. Amidst all the holiday "cheer", we are truly enjoying this very first Christmas with our Madeline.
To be a bit sentimental for a moment, I am reminded how truly truly blessed we are. We have fantastic, loving and supportive friends and family. But, admittedly...I have favorites. These two, this one picture...a thousand words could be said.
More to come of our Christmas festivities and fun! (as soon as I can get these larger files to load successfully!) Merry Christmas and love to all!

It's a great day for Peek-a-Boo

Aunt Anna (Auntie Mims) stopped on her way back from fall break to have lunch with us today. I packed the diaper bag, and left it by the front door. Usually I can dig something up out of my purse to keep her occupied...toys, snacks, something...not today. My purse was unusually clean, leaving only one option..

Yep, peek-a-boo with a plate

And it was quite successful, as well as her own personal water cup. And though there is no hard evidence, she was extremely friendly today. Everyone she met was the greatest, nicest and most attractive (or interesting) person to look at EVER. I think she was almost intimidating with her staring antics. Have a happy peek-a-boo day!

To the Pumpkin Patch we go!

As we were walking through the pumpkin (punkin as some say) patch, I was reminding Luke of our first Halloween together. We went to this same pumpkin patch with our church friends. So no - I did not cut my hair. Picture to the right, circa 2007. Anyhow, we were reminiscing about how everything was SO exciting during that first year of marriage. Our first Halloween season, our first Christmas, ect, ect. So this past cold, dreary Monday afternoon, I decided to drag our little family of 3 out of the house and into the pumpkin patch. I told Luke I wanted to pick our own pumpkin, as a family. I told him to pull Maddie in the wagon. My husband humors me so well! I couldn't help but feel that first-year-marriage excitement all over again. Everything is a first with Maddie and I fully intend on being excited about it.
Off we go! Let's find a pumpkin!

Found one!

My pumpkin pickers, happy with their choice!
(and both ready for a nap)
If you know Maddie at all...you can guess where the picture following this is headed...
Must EAT pumpkin!!!

Yay for Fall!! I am in love with this time of year, and loving sharing all the seasons and celebrations with my first for all of her firsts!!

And the winner is...

Maddie of course! Her favorite way to greet Daddy when he gets home from work - with a tackle. Who wouldn't love to end their work week being tackled by her??

Ok..prepare yourselves. I don't know if this is internet appropriate, but I can't help but share. She's just too funny - waiting patiently to get into the tub...And will probably kill me for this when she gets older!
And she loves rinsing off, especially her hair, and tries to lick up the water...well, see for yourself.

A Day in the Life...

I decided to follow Maddie around the house with the camera the other day.

What a busy little lady!

Starting with the exersaucer - who needs to get in it when you can have just as much fun going through it?!?!

On to the toy basket (and out of our pjs)...

FYI - the standing position was acheived all on her own!
Next, we eat the toy basket.
You wan't some Mom?
Onward we go, to the family room. To the TV cabinet.
Concentration is how we get this door open.

Success!

Don't forget the remote.

To eat the remote that is.

And back to the playroom for a little afternoon climb. Ok....I feel bad. If you look at her eyes, she is clearly upset. Every once in a while, she gets stuck. Not really sure how to get herself out of this situation. I took the photo anyway. Not trying to be a bad mom, just capturing the memories! Maybe it helps that this is the last photo in the bunch, and I did put the camera down and console my little one.

Thanks for joining us around the house today!

The Getaway Princess

We will be lowering her crib this afternoon...

And investing in baby gates.

She is, as you can see, quite independent.

Maddie and I are having a happy, relaxing Sunday here at home today. I think it's so great to have some down time and relax in God's goodness. Of course, it helps that I LOVE spending time with her! I am off to join her in the playroom now...and if you're reading this, then that means we wish you were playing with us!!

This one's for all you Mountaineers out there! We love and miss you!

July??...August??

Where are any of my July posts??...Oh...I don't have any. Where did that month go? We've been so busy this summer...and someone requires much more attention..gone are my days of sitting on the bed with the computer next to a still, calm baby entertained solely by the lights and ceiling fan. Now, it's more like "Ok, she's asleep...run around like a mad woman until she wakes up again!" Madeline is GROWING....like a weed. a pretty flower weed though. I can't believe she is 7 months. Teething, crawling, trying to stand up and a little sassafrass on top of it all. Let's talk in pictures...so much more fun.

Let's just recap the whole summer...

Starting with our trip to Burlington.

Moving on to vacation at Ocean Isle Beach and West Virginia (yes..both in one week..)
For time's sake, because yes, I am doing this while she is asleep, please feel free to create your own captions :)

I see movement on the monitor...Enjoy!
